Scientist II/ Senior Scientist, Discovery Biology

Job Summary:

Ouro Medicines is looking for a Scientist II/ Senior Scientist, Discovery Biology, to design and perform the necessary immunology-based assays to characterize the effect of pipeline antibody therapeutic candidates on immune cells. 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as an immunology subject matter expert on product teams in the candidate selection stage all the way to regulatory filing.
  • Liaise with external CROs to interpret and troubleshoot outsourced experiments.
  • Design multicolor flow cytometry panels to measure target antigen expression across immune cell subsets.
  • Source and isolate PBMCs and T/B cells from donor blood.
  • Design protocols to culture and differentiate immune cells of interest.
  • Design and oversee in vivo efficacy and toxicology studies at third-party CROs.
  • Design and perform co-culture assays of primary cells and antibody candidates to measure depletion of immune subsets.
  • Design and perform cytokine release assays to compare antibody candidates.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Immunology or relevant subject (Molecular or Cell Biology).
  • 2-4+ years of relevant immunology experience in the pharma/biotech industry or Postdoc.
  • Background in B cell biology is a significant plus.
  • Hands-on experience with immunophenotyping flow cytometry panels (8+ colors).
  • Experience with cell culture of primary B/T cells and handling whole blood.
  • Experience designing and overseeing in vivo experiments conducted at third-party CROs.
  • Extensive experience with FlowJo and GraphPad Prism. Working knowledge of RT-PCR and RNA-seq data analysis and interpretation is a plus.
  • Ability to generate, critique, and succinctly present data to leadership.
  • Ability to troubleshoot experiments and lead the effort to overcome scientific obstacles.
  • Self-starter who is proactive and finds ways to contribute in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range & Benefits:

  • The base salary range for this role is $108,200 - $178,400; The pay range provided is an estimated base range for this role. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education.
